Black Hawk Down Is My Favorite Movie On Netflix

Story: A movie based on a best-selling book about a pretty much complete failed mission in Somalia in 1993. US Forces are deployed into Mogadishu to capture two high ranking officers of a Somali warlord. Unforeseen things happens and what was supposed to be a quick ‘search and snatch’ mission turns into a firefight lasting overnight. 2 Black Hawk helicopters are shot down and this movie focuses on the rescue of the pilots. Both Rangers and Delta Force work together to reach the crash site and secure the area before Somali gunmen can get to the pilots.

Review: This war movie is unique in that it does not spend the better half of the movie on character building. After only half an hour you are exposed to great combat scenes as the U.S. Rangers and Delta Force fights Somali gunmen. Better yet the action is nonstop for 2 hours. I have never seen anything like it. This movie is filled with flying bullets, explosions and bloodshed. Ridley Scott has shown us he can do more than create science fiction movies as he directs this incredible war that is in the same league as Steven Spielberg’s Saving Private Ryan or Stanley Kubrick’s Full Metal Jacket.
The effects and camerawork are absolutely amazing which is to be expected from a Ridley Scott movie. Ridley Scott takes advantage of new high speed cameras as we see lots of slow-motion shots of flying dust and falling bullet casings.

Black Hawk Down could easily be the best war movie ever made and is number 1 on the Top Ten Best Netflix Movies. Be sure to check out the other movies on the top ten list.
