At the end of February 2012 Netflix lost it contract with Starz. It did not come as a surprise to Netflix as they chose not to renew the contract due to pricing disagreements with Starz. It was first reported in March 2011 that Starz wanted Netflix to implement a tiered pricing system meaning Netflix customers should pay more for Starz movies and TV shows. Then June last year Netflix CEO Reed Hastings told website All Things D that Netflix would not renew the contract as Starz was asking for $200 Million which was more than 6 times the price for the original deal that was signed in 2008.
